"In October 2011 we as proprietors of Craft De Eyre decided we would not attend the Adelaide Craft & Quilt Fair in November 2011 that is currently run by Expertise Events. We attended the Craft & Quilt Fair in Adelaide 2010 which we found very educational although not very financially rewarding. We decided to put our very first fair down to a good PR exercise and educational experience. In January 2011 we made the decision to take the plunge with another quilting shop that we had networked with (another Positive to Adelaide) and hit the Craft & Quilt Fair in Perth WA. Well for us this was a disaster to say the least. A very costly exercise indeed, hence our decision to not attend Adelaide. Fortunately we were too late (according to our contract) to pull out of Adelaide so we revised our notes from the previous year and had discussions with the Expertise Events organisers about how we could financially afford to pull this off. The Expertise Events organisers were unbelievably supportive, understanding and professional to our situation and immediately made us feel at ease to the situation we were in. Thank goodness we attended the Fair as we had the most rewarding outcome we could ever have imagined. Financially we increased our turnover from the previous year; we attended a FREE seminar arranged by Expertise Events which we found FANTASTIC. The networking we did you couldn’t put a dollar value on and to top it all off we were presented with the award for the best small exhibit. Remember we come from a town in the middle of nowhere and felt we were competing with the big boys. Just goes to show that if you believe in yourselves and are willing to listen and work together with the experts in the field (Expertise Events) you can achieve big beautiful things. By the way, we are still busy filling orders that were directly linked from the show.
